Big fly, small fish...

It is considered top sport to catch a big fish with light tackle, thin line and small hook. Sometime the wrong things are happening — with a serious tackle one is catching something small, or very small. Some fish from our catches fit a matchbox with only a tail sticking out.

Casting and fly-tying seminar in Chita

On May 3-7 I was invited to Chita (Eastern Siberia) by the local fishing club; I have conducted a fly-tying and spey-casting seminar.

Reflections

The fish dwell in water, and the water is often works like a mirror – or a lens.  I want to share some interesting optical instants which I was lucky to see during some outdoor trips.  The eyes of a live fish reflect its surroundings.  We underestimate the quality of these reflections – due to the small size and curvature of the “mirrors” the image is very small.

Here you can see an attempt to magnify my own image from the eye of a 2 kg lenok.
